As I mentioned in yesterday’s post (read here), last weekend was when I celebrated turning 23. I thought it would be nice to share what I got up to with the family and my boyfriend, Edd.
On the Wednesday before my birthday, Edd and I went to the MetroCentre to watch The Secret Life Of Pets and it was such a ‘feel-good’ film. It had me hooked from the moment it started right up until the end. Yes, I know it’s a certified as U but I highly recommend you watch it for yourself some time soon. We went to Wagamamas for dinner. I had the Wok-Fried Greens (broccoli and bok choi, stir fried with garlic and soy sauce) to start with which was just out of this world and then followed with my usual choice of Yasai Cha Han Donburi. There’s just something about having rice, mixed veg, scrambled egg and tofu mixed together that tastes so good…seriously try it! We also popped into a couple of shops while we were waiting for the film to start including the Disney store. For a while now, we had our eyes on these mugs but couldn’t bring ourselves to spend nearly £60 on them. To our surprise, they were in the sale at just £4.47 each, bargain! We decided to go for Woody, Buzz, Eve and Wall-E. We did want Sulley and Mike but they had sold out pretty fast. I got far too excited about the concept of these because it’s technically the first things we have brought together for when we move out.
On my actual birthday, which was the Friday, I attempted to go to Seven Stories which is a national centre for children’s books that has exhibitions and runs events throughout the year. Unfortunately it was closed on my birthday but I did end up going earlier this week which is a whole different story in itself. In the evening, I went out for a meal with my family, Edd and his mum. Jane made this amazing 4-tiered cake with chocolate buttons and various different sweets. It tasted divine! Everyone in the restaurant sang happy birthday to me which made me feel slightly uncomfortable but there was another lady up with me too as it was her birthday as well. This made me feel so much better.
Overall I really enjoyed spending time so much quality time with my family over my birthday. I think that is the most important part about any kind of special event, creating memories that you can cherish forever.
What do you like to do on your birthday? Does anyone else have a birthday week/weekend?
