If there’s one place I love shopping for cruelty free treats, it’s M&S! However, it’s always the place just about everyone in the #cfbloggers community forgets about. Well I know that I do. Not only M&S’s own range have the leaping bunny printed clearly on the back of all their packaging but they also sell a range of cruelty free brands including: Barry M, Butter London, Burt’s Bees, Dr. Hauschka, Melvita, Neal’s Yard Remedies and Pixi. I have only ever tried their eyeshadows in the past and from what I can remember they were really good quality and were long-lasting too so I thought it was about time that I expanded my make up collection a little and try some new products.
Firstly, I picked up this Lipstick Trio in various shades of pink. The set included three limited edition lipsticks that weren’t available singularly. I have used Chiffon the most as it’s a really lovely shade of pink. The shade is a bit like the ‘your lips but better’ which is always handy to have in your lipstick stash as it usually goes with everything. The collection also includes Antique Gold which is a lovely golden shade and Sorbet which is brilliant for those who are looking for a bright, baby pink. I haven’t got round to using the other shades yet but I am sure Antique Gold would be lovely for the autumn/winter season later this year.
The lipsticks are really moisturising and don’t dry your lips out however I have found that the lasting power is not as good as my beloved GOSH lipstick. Although I say this, they do tend to last the majority of the day without the need to apply after every hour or two which is always something I look out for in a lipstick. I like how the lipsticks all have a bit of a sheen to them making it something different than my usual matte lipstick that I love wearing.
I have been after a new blush palette for ages. The only one I tend to use before the newest addition was the Sleek Lace Palette which I love but I am limited to bright shades that have a bit of sparkle and sometimes you just don’t want that. I was after something that was more for day to day wear such as interviews for jobs. The Pink Blush Palette was the perfect option. It has my favourite peachy shade in the middle which has been getting a lot of use recently, a neutral everyday pink shade and a brown shade that I have actually been using as a contour. I have fell in love with the palette as the formulas are really pigmented and last more or less all day on the cheeks. I usually apply blush then follow with a perfection powder across my entire face and even after doing this the blush can still be seen.
Pixi has been a brand that I have wanted to try for a while so when I found the Waterproof Eye Pencils in the sale section for £1.99 each, I was practically jumping for joy! Bargain, eh? I picked up Glimmery Black which has a slight sparkle to it but looks beautiful on the eyes. The formula is really pigmented and really easy and soft to apply. It doesn’t feel as though you are using an actual pencil to line your eyes. I used to rely heavily on black eyeshadow on busy days as I found I didn’t have time to mess around with getting the perfect line but the Pixi Eye Liner Pencils have changed my life. I didn’t really have high expectations when it came to the waterproof factor but it’s a bitch to remove and takes some scrubbing when taking your make up off. If your planning any summer holidays, this will be a great addition to add to your collection. I also picked up a lovely rose gold shade called Oyster Glow. I haven’t used this yet but I can imagine it will look lovely on the water line to brighten the eyes up. Next on my list to try is the oh-so-famous Pixi Glow Tonic, let me know your thoughts if you have it.
Have you picked up anything from M&S Beauty recently? What’s your thoughts on what I picked up?
