A Winter Makeup Look

We are just over half way through Winter and with this in mind, I thought I better share with you a couple of products that I have been using to make wintery days look a bit brighter.

The term “don’t fix it if it doesn’t need fixing” applies when it comes to my base makeup. I found the GOSH X-Ceptional Wear Foundation in early 2016 and since then I have brought so many tubes that I have lost count. This also applies to Makeup Revolution’s Focus & Fix Concealer. Both are really good products that do their jobs well and I can rely on them. One thing that I have changed up this winter is highlighting, something that I have never really experimented with until recently. I received the Makeup Revolution Baked Highlighter in an advent calendar and I love it! I can’t stop wearing it because it just makes my face look a lot more healthier and glowing. As with bronzer and blush, I have been using my go to winter duo which is the Barry M Afterglow Light Bronzer and Sleek’s Blush in Flushed – however both have probably seen better days.

For my eyes; I have been obsessed with the Naked Smoky Palette. At first, I was a bit unsure and to be honest the colours had scared me a little but I finally came up with a smokey eye look that is perfect for any occasion, day or night. I have been applying Password and Smolder in my outer crease using the Real Techniques 201 Pointed Crease Brush from the Bold Metals Collection. I like the dome effect on the brush because you can get right into the crease but can also be quite precise with where you are applying it at the same time. I have then blended it onto the rest of my eyelid using Combust with brush the Real Techniques 200 Oval Shadow Brush. This has been my go to brush for blending because it is just so good at it! If I wanted to brighten my eyes up then I have opted for Thirteen and I have sometimes applied Black Market in the lower lash line. I switched up my mascara this season too; I have started using the GOSH Lash Sculpting Fibre Mascara. It claims that it is supposed to give the lashes the ‘false lash’ effect which I happen to agree with. After just a few strokes my lashes look longer and a lot more volumised. The formulation contains flower shaped fibres that positions themselves among natural lashes to give the multiplying effect.

For my lips, I have been switching it up between two very well loved lipsticks. The first is a Velvet Matte number from GOSH called Raisin. It is a gorgeous reddish brown shade which is perfect for an evening out whilst the other is Lippy Girl’s Vegocentric Lipstick in Boss Lady. This is the one that I am wearing in today’s post and as you can see it’s a lovely orangey red shade which is lovely for this time of year. I have been wearing this during the day when I am just going shopping or meeting up with friends. If you have read my blog for a while you will know that I have not been a confident red lip gal but I am slowly easing my way into them.

Overall, I really love the look. I think it’s so easy to wear to just about anything; whether that is work or a blogger’s event or even drinks out with your friends.

What do you guys think? What products have been your holy grails this Winter?
