As some of you may know from this post, I am going cruelty free from April 15, 2015. I’m now embarking on a mission to change my beauty and skincare products to cruelty free only and the one thing that as confused me is whether a company is cruelty free or not. I have decided to create this list for anyone else who is interested in avoiding products that are tested on animals.
I will define cruelty free as not having been tested on animals at any point of the production process or sold in a country that requires by law like China. I am okay with cruelty free companies that are owned by testing companies.
If a company is cruelty free they could either be certified by the Leaping Bunny, signed PETA’s pledge or aren’t affiliated with any cruelty free organisation. After reading Cruelty Free Kitty’s post explaining about the different organisations (read here), I will be seeking additional proof regarding a brand’s cruelty free status if shown on the PETA list.
