The Sunday Summary #1 – Lindisfarne, Jam Jar Cinema And Soap & Glory Lovin’

I’m back! It feels strange and different and weird saying that but I finally feel ready to get back into the swing of blogging. I miss writing. I miss the community. I miss saying that I have a hobby that I thoroughly enjoy. However there is going to be some big changes around these parts of the internet. But change is good, right?!

I’m not going to make excuses or come up with reasons on why I am making these changes because there is no need for all that. Introducing to you The Sunday Summaries. The place where I will be talking about what I have got up to that week, the products that I have been loving. There might be a recipe thrown in or a whole paragraph on why I love the new Metamorphosis Bath Bomb that has swept into most Lush stores across the UK. I have been wanting to do this for a while but haven’t really got round to it. I suppose the timing wasn’t really right but now my life is getting back on track after a break-up that affected me in more ways than one, starting my very first full-time job and I am starting to feel a little bit more stable as far as my mental health and anxiety is concerned. So let’s begin…

I finally re-purchased Soap And Glory’s Supercat Eyeliner Pen and I am so unbelievably thankful! I never really knew how much I missed it until I have started using it again. Usually my eyes turn out like pandas trying to get a pencil eyeliner to at least look even on both sides but Supercat is just like swiping across your eyelids and your good to go. It’s probably be ranted and raved about for many years across the blogosphere but I honestly don’t understand how someone can have a makeup collection without it!

I also picked up their Face Soap And Clarity as it looked really interesting. The product is designed to smooth, cleanse and purify the skin and is extremely simple to use as well. I have used it a couple of times and I am really liking it however I don’t think it lives up to my favourite, Peaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk. I like to use it in the evening rather than the morning because it is amazing at removing makeup and it does leave my skin feeling soft and hydrated but there is just something about Peaches and Clean that I prefer.

I have practically lived in Primark recently and the one thing that I love picking up are the Montagne Jeunesse Face Masks. I haven’t actually tried the Blueberry Blast Mud Masque which is featured in the photo above however you can’t fault them. No matter which mask I use, they all leave my skin feeling amazing!! You can’t go wrong with a 90p bargain. My current favourite is their White Chocolate Masque.

Last week included a trip to the Jam Jar Cinema in Whitley Bay to see the new Alien film which I highly recommend seeing. You don’t necessarily need to have watched the previous films to understand the film itself either. I thought the action in it was amazing and the storyline was something completely different to what I usually like.

I also went up to Lindisfarne for the afternoon which was really nice. Of course, it was rather windy but it brighten up in the afternoon. I had a vegan cheese and chilli sandwich for lunch with a Fentimans drink at the Pilgrims Coffee Shop and, because I overestimated the crossing times, for dinner I had a classic macaroni cheese with garlic bread at the Manor House Hotel. Overall, it was such a lovely afternoon and gave me a chance to take my camera out for a walk.

How have you been? What have you been up to recently? I hope you still stick around, things will get better I promise!

CarnLIVal Bloggers Event

At the start of April, Alice from Alice’s Wonder Emporium and I headed down to Liverpool for the CarnLIVal blogging event that was co-hosted by the lovely Katy and Sam. The event was in aid of Student Minds and St Rocco’s Hospice. We had the choice to donate sanitary/hygiene products to those in need as well as paying a small fee for the tickets to attend which also ensured us a place and a raffle ticket.

The event was held at the Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool. On the outside, it looked as though it would be home to celebrities. I felt a little out of my comfort zone but thank god I had Alice there to support me all the way. We were led up to the event space on one of the top floors. It had a balcony with panoramic views of the city. You could even see as far as Wales! It was not until then when I realised how far south we had actually travelled. The view was beautiful; blue skies with not a cloud in sight and the skyline of Liverpool’s buildings.

Katy and Sam filled the room with confetti filled balloons and other small details. They even created a SnapChat filter for the special occasion that I took advantage of. There was a photo booth, a table where we could take part in the poetry competition that I actually won, an Easter Egg hunt and the chance to buy prizes from the Naughty and Nice bags. It was nice to share all the fun with not only Alice but the friends that I made at the event; Emily, Hannah and Hannah, who made us feel so welcome.

Charlotte, the executive sales manager, took groups on a tour of the hotel. Oh my, if you get a chance to stay at the Hope Street Hotel then I would highly recommend it! They had a lovely penthouse with a huge balcony looking over the whole of Liverpool. It’s modern and up to date with many unique rooms each with its own character. Famous guests such as Hugh Grant and Condoleezza Rice has stayed at the hotel as well. The prices start from £89pn right up to £495pn for one of the suites.

After the tours were over, there was a quick speech from Deborah Morgan who wrote Disappearing Home. She talked about how she found her passion in life and how it wasn’t what she had expected. She inspired me to never give up and always go for the thing that you want the most.

Before leaving, the raffle prizes were announced. Everyone won something which I really liked. I was luckily enough to bag a set of nine Makeup Geek lipsticks which are all shades that I would have picked anyway. My particular favourite is Soccer Mom as it is such a lovely peachy shade for the Summer months. As we were leaving, Katy and Sam handed out two huge bags full of snacks and beauty/skincare products. We left feeling spoilt rotten! Katy and Sam have really pushed the boat out when it comes to blogging events and I think the North East has something to live up to.

Alice, Hannah and I went to grab some food before catching our trains home. We went to a restaurant called The Italian Club; it was a family run restaurant with beautiful decor and the service wasn’t too bad. I had the Valterino pizza which had goat’s cheese, sundried tomatoes and pesto – it was delicious!

I would like to say a huge thank you to Katy and Sam for hosting such an amazing event!

#BloggersOnTheBus Event

Back in February, I was invited to the #BloggersOnTheBus event held by Stagecoach and Mediaworks to promote their new Stagecoach Buss app. For someone like myself who relies heavily on public transport apps that allow you to buy mobile tickets, plan journeys and see live bus information makes everything a lot more simple. It’s like a serious lifesaver!

I did want to take the bus to the event however I had less than 30 minutes to get to Jalou, Newcastle which is where the event was held so I couldn’t of got there on time however I have used it since the event and can definitely recommend the app to anyone who does travel regularly on the Stagecoach services. The app makes buying bus tickets a lot easier and for someone who is always running late, seeing the live times is a god send. Unfortunately I still haven’t learnt my lesson of leaving the house slightly earlier so I’m not sprinting my way to the bus stop. You can find nearby bus stops as well as plan your trip which makes you feel a lot more organised.

To celebrate the release of the Stagecoach App, we were encouraged to get in touch with our creative sides and design a phone case. On arrival, I was greeted with a drink and sweets. Who can turn down a good old Celebration chocolate and a glass of Prosecco?! I also saw one of my blogging faves, Holly, who made everything a lot more enjoyable.

Ideas were scattered around the room however their was only one that caught my eye. Myself and Holly opted for the marble design which, of course, is every bloggers dream phone cases but also one of the hardest designs to make. We decided to test it on a spare case which we actually gave to Alice since she couldn’t make it. Little did we know it actually ended up being the best, oops!

To make the marble design; we had to dot blobs of nail varnish onto paper and then press the phone case into it which gave the marble effect as the shades mixed together. I went for purples and glitter but absolutely loved it! I am so proud of mine and Holly’s designs, they turned out brilliant if I do say so myself.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Stagecoach and Mediaworks for such an amazing event and I am very much looking forward to the next one!
