The Sunday Post: Whitley Bay Lighthouse

This week I’ve been making the most of my local surroundings. I think once you have lived somewhere for a certain amount of time it’s easy to take for granted the local landmarks that make where you live special and unique to you as a person but also to the community that you live in. Personally, St Mary’s Lighthouse is that landmark. It stands tall and stable and really signifies Whitley Bay as a seaside town with a fantastic community, unique independent shops and a lovely beach. During the Spring, seals use the rocks around the Lighthouse to mate which I think is so magical and such a special moment to witness. There is even a special Seal Group with local volunteers to help take care of the seals. They were so beautiful and I feel truly lucky to be able to see such a lovely animal in their natural habitat.

Do you live near the coast? Is there anywhere local to you that signifies where you live?

This lighthouse is so beautiful! I’ve never lived by the sea and I don’t think I’ve actually ever seen a lighthouse up close, even though there must be some near where I live! What a lovely place to be. :)

Really?! It’s such a shame because they are so beautiful, you should make the effort to visit a lighthouse :) xx
