Is there anything better than popping into your local Superdrug and finding new cruelty-free finds to replace your old makeup? I don’t think so! My Rimmel mascara had finally ran out so I went on search for a new cruelty-free mascara and picked up a handful of other bits on the way to the checkout…
I had been wanting to get my hands on the Naked Smoky palette for a while now so when I found out that Olivia from Dungarees and Donuts was selling one, I just had to message her and grab it while I can. She even managed to hunt out the brush that came in the palette for me. I haven’t really had to time to play with it as much as I would like cause I am still busy drooling over my Too Faced Sweet Peach palette – you can read more on that here but I am sure the Smoky palette will be a great addition to my collection.
Since moving onto cruelty free makeup well over a year ago now, I’ve been meaning to find some lovely lipsticks to my collection. I thought I would start off simple and go for one of the GOSH Velvet Touch lipsticks in the shade Delicious. I love the X-Ceptional Wear Foundation and this is no different. The lipstick is just that perfect ‘better-than-your-lips’ pink and is really creamy and moisturising. I can imagine during the winter months, this lipstick in a darker shade will be my go to staple lipstick. I am even planning on adding some shades to my birthday wish list.
While I was at the Barry M counter looking for a mascara, I spotted the Sunset Daylight Curing polishes and just needed to pick one up to try. They claim to “deliver the look and resilience of pro salon gel nails without a UV lamp or the expense” so I am super excited about giving it a go. I picked up Vengeance is Wine – a lovely deep red shade and the Sunset Topcoat. I’ll let you know my thoughts in the near future. Whilst on the subject of Barry M nails, have you seen the new Lolly Gloss and Molten Metals collections? Have any of you tried them?
I have heard so many good things about Barry M’s Show Girl mascara that I thought I would give it a go and see how I get on with it. I picked up the extra volume formula in the hope that it gives me long, voluminous lashes and so far I haven’t really noticed a difference although it does make my lashes look slightly longer. I am usually a fan of the big wand mascaras but this is completely different than I just can’t work with it. When I got to the till I realised that it was 3 for 2 across all makeup brands so I picked up That’s How I Roll as well. I haven’t given this one a chance yet but it claims to give lovely curls to your lashes. The wand is thinner and has a slight curl compared to Show Girl so I will probably end up loving this one a little bit more.
It wouldn’t be a haul without treating yourself to some new makeup brushes. I’ve recently added the Ecotools Six Piece Starter Set to my collection and I’ve fell in love with applying my makeup all over again. Previously, I have only really tried the Real Techniques brushes and as much as I love them, I just want a bit of variation to my brush collection. It’s the perfect travel companion with a carry case and five beautifully crafted brushes. They have bamboo handles, recycled aluminum ferrules and cruelty-free bristles that are softer than a baby’s bum! The set includes: a blush brush, eye shading brush, angled eyeliner brush, concealer brush and a lash & brow groomer. My favourites are the blush brush and the angled eyeliner brush as they have been the easiest to use.
What do you think of my finds? Have you tried any of these before? Any cruelty-free mascara suggestions will be rather helpful too!
