Today is one of those days where your either celebrating with your partner and feeling rather loved or spending the evening sipping cocktails or heading to see Fifty Shades Freed with your girls, either way you probably already have your makeup look planned. Mark and I celebrated Valentine’s at the weekend cause I’m working tonight but I thought I would round up my date night makeup menu…
Recently, I have been loving the B. Flawless Matte Foundation. I’m fully obsessed with everything about it. The formulation makes my skin look flawless as suggested in the name. It covers all my imperfections including dark under eye circles and I don’t tend to touch it up with powder unless I’m really wanting my makeup to last. I love the design of the packaging although you do need to be careful how much you use. I’m still using the Makeup Revolution Focus & Fix Concealer to hide my dark under eye circles and any blemishes however I am so intrigued with the new Conceal & Define Concealer they have brought out recently. I’m currently waiting for my local Superdrug store to stock them however I am tempted to just make an online order. For setting powder, I’m still head over heals in love with the Gosh BB Cream Powder. Do you know when you just find a product that works? Well, yeah that.
Now to spice up the base, I use one of my favourite palettes at the moment. I have recently found out about Makeup Obsession so I proceeded to create my own palette with two bronzers, two highlighters and two eyeshadows however there is a certain selection that I automatically use daily without really thinking about it. I love the warmth that the Light Medium Bronzer gives my face. I think it’s a perfect shade that gives dimension and sculpture to my face. After using my chosen blush (I went for Sleek Blush in Flushed which has been a go-to favourite at the moment), I then turned to highlight. The Pearl Highlighter from the Makeup Obsession palette has quickly became one of my favourites. The shade just gives your skin a perfect healthy glow which I am in love with and can’t steer away from. The pigmentation of the Makeup Obsession products are on another level to anything I’ve tried before and the whole palette is so affordable and customisable which is just another reason to love the brand.
For the eyes, I’ve decided to experiment a little bit and dug out my Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette*. It’s been in my makeup collection since Christmas and I have been loving the usual neutral shades on a daily basis however I thought I would test how much of a companion it is for a date night. When people mention Valentine’s the first thing that crops to my mind is light pinks and warm red shades however I decided to go for a bit of a warm toned purple smokey eye. I used Ashes in the outer corner and then went in with Ounce in the inner corner of the eye to create the warm toned smokey eye. I then added a little bit of Mixed Berries from the Makeup Revolution Soph X Palette to just add a little sparkle. Personally, I think the shades went really well together and created a rather unique eye look. For long, volumized lashes, I picked up the Medusa’s Makeup Witch Lash Mascara*. I highly recommend trying it out because it’s by far the best cruelty free mascara I’ve tried ever!
Finally, the last date night essential is a deep red or berry lip product (I recommend the NYX Butter Gloss in Cranberry Biscotti or Joan Collins Lipstick in Alexis) however I decided to choose something a little bit different. I went for the Lippy Girl Vegocentric Lipstick* in Abraca-Bam. It’s the perfect lilac purple matte lip product that won’t come off easy if you’re heading out for food or decide to get a little bit smoochy with your date.
What are your makeup picks for date night?
